Update: The run has been moved to May 15.

We're just trying to raise awareness, reduce the stigma so that people can talk about this difficult topic

Steve Dolce is a man on a mission. In the six years since the death of his friend and fellow motorcycle rider, Terry Anderson, Dolce became an advocate, working tirelessly to raise awareness and eradicate the stigma surrounding suicide.

"It wasn't that long ago that cancer was the 'C' word," Dolce said. "We're just trying to raise awareness, reduce the stigma so that people can talk about this difficult topic."

On Sunday, May 15, the Hudson Valley chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention will hold its sixth annual Here Comes the Sun Bike Run to raise money for educational programs and research into suicide prevention.

The event kicks off at 9AM with on-site registration of riders at P.C.'s Paddock, 273 Titusville Rd. in Poughkeepsie. Kickstands go up at 11AM and the scenic ride through Dutchess County includes a stop at Lia's Mountain View Restaurant in Pine Plains before looping back to P.C.'s Paddock. Popular radio personality Robyn Taylor will be on hand with the Townsquare Media of the Hudson Valley road crew to give out prizes and sign attendees up for giveaways. The Here Comes the Sun Bike Run will also feature live music and a 50/50 raffle.
