It was 42 years ago today, on June 1 1976, that WPDH signed on as a rock station. 42 years is a long time for a rock station to survive. And we couldn't have done it without you.

I am once again going to tell this story. I tell it once a year, just about every year. It was June 1, 1976. It was warm and sunny. Tommy Webster picked me up in his red Ford Falcon. I think it was a 1965 Falcon, but he says it was a 66. Either way, he picked me up and told me there was a new radio station that played great music, and it was right out of Poughkeepsie.

I started here at WPDH in the news department. Shortly after that I moved over to the music side of things. In total it was four or five years in the early 1980s, and back again from 1995 til now. That’s almost 30 years. That's like my whole adult life.

So, thank you WPDH for supplying the Hudson Valley with great rock and roll for 42 years. And thank you to all of the WPDH listeners for your loyalty, your friendship, and your continued love of rock and roll.
