Happy Birthday Jerry

August 1, 1942.  That's the day that Jerry Garcia came into this world.  And even though his life was rather short, he touched so many people with his music.  Everybody knows I'm a Grateful dead fan, but what I really am is a Jerry Garcia fan.

A lot of people thought I might be headed to Chicago last month for the Fare Thee Well final concerts.  I heard the shows were great.  But without Jerry, it's just not the same for me.  I tried...I saw them a few times after Jerry died.  And they were good, but it wasn't the same.

So, where ever you are, Jerry, happy birthday.  You've added so much great music to my life.  And so many good times centered around that music. Thank you.  For me, you will always live on.  Fare Thee Well.
