Not sure if Kurtis Callen was trying to pull off another senior prank or maybe he just doesn't like trees, but the 18 year old was arrested for allegedly cutting down 17 trees at Gloversville High School overnight. The district claims many of trees were planted there in honor of the deceased or were gifts from graduating classes.

The Gloversville Enlarged School District would like to thank the Gloversville Police Department and others for bringing a quick resolution to the investigation of vandalism at the GHS campus.

Friday, June 13, school personnel arrived at GHS to discover 17 trees had been cut down sometime overnight. Some of these trees had been planted in remembrance of the deceased or had been given to the school by graduating classes.

Police were called to investigate the incident, and were able to make an arrest in the case.

"The school district considers these trees an important part of the school campus and will begin considering options to replace them," Gloversville Superintendent Michael Vanyo said. "This act of vandalism shocked our school community. The district again thanks law enforcement personnel, school staff, students and others for their assistance in bringing this investigation to a conclusion."
