Famed author and radio host, Garrison Keillor, is ranting about a New York law that almost made him pee himself.

In a recent column printed in newspapers across the country, including the Washington Post, Keillor ripped on New York for a law that he thinks is silly and terribly inconvenient. The revelation was part of the author's opinion piece about his dislike for some of the effects of "big government" which has spawned some incredibly ridiculous laws and regulations that have been passed by his fellow liberals.

So there I am, pumping gas in Poughkeepsie, about to wet myself, all because of big government...

In particular, Keillor says he despises the New York law that doesn't allow for gas pumps to be latched open while filling your tank. He says the "overregulation" means that he can't fuel up his car while running inside to use the bathroom; something he says "if you’re an older male and hear gushing liquid, you feel a powerful urge to do."

Those who take frequent road trips can understand Keillor's frustration. It's kind of nice to put the pump in your car and just stand back until it's done. However, New York government has decided the risk of an overflowing gas tank is just too dangerous; so now we're sentenced to five minutes of standing next to our cars, clutching a dirty, old gas pump.

Keillor went on to wrap up his column by saying, "so there I am, pumping gas in Poughkeepsie, about to wet myself, all because of big government..."

Yes, Garrison, we've all been there. Welcome to the Hudson Valley.
