The Marlboro Iron Dukes were down for the count when Our Lady of Lourdes jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the New York State Class B quarterfinals Friday night.   But like Lazarus, Marlboro rose from the dead and rattled off 31 consecutive points to take control of the game.

Lourdes got things started when junior quarterback Dean Rotger hit Luke Timm with a perfectly led pass down the middle of the field for a 32 yard TD on the Warriors first set of downs.  The Section 1 champs then followed that up in the beginning of the 2nd quarter with a 10 yard strike from Rotger to Devon Bower.  The explosive 14-0 lead led many to think this one was over.

But Marlboro knew they were only down for the count and not out.  The Iron Dukes senior QB, Ray Pacella, broke the ice with a 15 yard TD run and followed that with a long TD pass to Harry St. John and just like that the game was tied up at halftime 14-14

In the second half, Marlboro's leading rusher Rino Tamburri started to make himself right at home and rattled off 3 TD's of his own.  Before you knew it the Iorn dukes had built up a 31-14 lead.

Lourdes tried to make a comeback and was able to put another score on the board, but Marlboro proved to be too fast, too physical, and too determined on this night.  Marlboro beats Lourdes 38-21 and this Saturday  plays Section 2's representative Schalamont in a rematch of last year's state semi final.  Schalamont won that game 60-0.  The rematch takes place at Dietz Stadium in Kingston, scheduled for Saturday at 3pm
