KINGSTON -  So close, and yet so far!  Two years in a row Schalmont, the Section Two representative in the NYS Football Championship Tournament, bounced Marlboro from the state tournament.  Last year it was a 66-0 drubbing of a Marlboro team that had dominating every Class B football team in this area of the Hudson Valley during the regular season.  This year, the Dukes faired a little better in the semi-final match up because they scored 14 points, but Schalmont scored 49; twenty-eight of those points were in the first half.

Marlboro showed some signs of life to begin the second half when the Iron Dukes defense blocked a punt and recovered it in the red zone.  Then on Schalmont's first possession of the second half, Rino Tamburri picked off a Nick Gallo pass and took it right into the end zone.  It was 28-14 at that point - but then Schalmont put the nail in the coffin when Devin Higgins returns the ensuing kick off the length of the field to make it 35-14.  Schalmont wins it 49-14 the final.
