Jimi Hendrix was born on Nov. 27, 1942 in Seattle. He would have been 73 today. Sadly, Jimi passed away on September 18th 1970 of a drug overdose at the age of 27.

Jimi Hendrix was a major influence on many rock and roll musicians. He taught himself to play the electric guitar and usually played a Fender Stratocaster, ehich he played upside down since he was left-handed. He initially became famous in England and then became famous all through the world after playing the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967. He woulld also be known for playing the famous Woodstock Music Festival in 1969.

In 2003, Rolling Stone magazine named Jimi Hendrix the "Greatest Guitarist of All Time". There are always cool Jimi Hendrix music cd and dvd releases put out on a regular basis. The latest is a dvd concert film entitled Jimi Hendrix Experience: Electric Church which features footage from a historic July 4, 1970 concert in front of his largest ever U.S. audience. It was released on Nov. 6.
