Original Post Monday

Winter Storm Jupiter has been responsible for power outages, damaging ice accumulations, as well as six fatalities, due to hazardous road conditions, through out the Mid-West and it's coming to the Hudson Valley.

That's why the National Weather Service has issued a Freezing Rain Advisory for the Mid-Hudson Valley from 7 am on Tuesday through 7 am on Wednesday. Precipitation will start as snow or sleet tomorrow morning, but is expected to change over to a light freezing rain by 11 am and could get steadier as the day goes on. It should taper off by daybreak on Wednesday morning.

We could see one tenth to one quarter of an inch of accumulation, and while that doesn't sound like much, it's enough to possibly cause scattered power outages, dangerous driving conditions, and cause any untreated surfaces such as driveways and sidewalks to be a little difficult to navigate.

In addition, even after the temperatures rise, we could still some icing on the roads and untreated surfaces, so exercise caution as you travel and get around tomorrow. Should there be any school closings or delays, get all of the information here.
