A hazmat team was called into a local Hudson Valley college on Wednesday after a passed out student created what some are calling a chain reaction.

The Journal News reports that safety authorities were alerted after a case of "contagious fainting" was discovered at Rockland Community College. According to reports, a female student felt ill and excused herself to the restroom. After being concerned for her wellbeing, another student went to check in on her and discovered that the student had fainted.

When the teacher saw the passed out student, she also fainted.

A professor was alerted to the situation, but when the teacher saw the passed out student, she also fainted. The other student, who was still upright, alerted the authorities and a hazmat team was called. The building was checked to make sure there were no environmental dangers or pollutants that may have triggered the fainting epidemic.

Authorities say that everything checked out, and the fainting spells were simply an "odd set of circumstances." Because of the bizarre episode, classes were canceled for the rest of the evening in the Academic II building.  Both the student and professor quickly regained consciousness and, luckily, the only thing they're suffering from today is embarrassment.
