A member of the New Paltz Planning Board appeared on Fox News this week to talk about the decision not to recite the Pledge of Allegiance.

Last week the Village of New Paltz Planning Board voted against staring their meetings by reciting the Pledge of Allegiance by a vote of 4 to 3. New Paltz board member, Amy Cohen, appeared on Fox & Friends this Monday to discuss the issue.

During her interview, Cohen says that she always recited the pledge while working as a former New Paltz police commissioner. Cohen also serves on the New Paltz Democratic Committee where the pledge is recited before each meeting.

The board members who voted against reciting the pledge say that the decision has nothing to do with their patriotism. Planning board chairman, Michael Calimano, is a veteran who served in the military. He voted against reciting the pledge.

We want to know what you think. Is this media attention just trying to sensationalize something that's not really a big deal? Or do you think the planning board decision is something worth getting upset about?
