Many times when you'd walk into Shea O'Brien's in New Paltz, manager Garvan McCloskey was there to greet you in person. After their surprise closure many questioned what would happen next. News has just surfaced that McCloskey will open his own restaurant later this month.

The New Paltz Times reports Garvan's will open at 215 Hugenot Street in the former Rock & Rye Tavern. The classic building was built prior to the year 1800 and is located right near the New Paltz Golf Course.

Initially when offered the property by previous owners, he turned them down. He felt a bar like Shea O'Brien's wouldn't work in this location. Instead, his new business will focus on the restaurant angle. Garvan's will focus on 'New American' food with an Irish twist. They also plan to use as much local food as possible.

According to their Facebook page, Garvan's is on track to open Friday just in time for Valentine's Day this weekend.
