Former President George H.W. Bush was taken by ambulance to Houston Methodist Hospital. He was experiencing shortness of breath, Tuesday evening and taken to the hospital as a precaution, according to his spokesman.

Bush, now 90-years old was held for observation, again, according to his spokesman, as a precaution.

A White House spokesman said in a statement: "The President has been made aware that President Bush was admitted to the hospital. President Obama and the First Lady send their good wishes to the former President and the entire Bush family during this holiday season."

The former president's health problem starting back in 1991, and have progressed over the years. He is no longer able to walk unassisted. He celebrated his 90th birthday back in June.
