Former Knick Anthony Mason, who played for 13 years in the NBA has died at the age of 48. His death was confirmed by an NBA spokesperson. Mason had been diagnosed with congestive heart failure earlier this month and undergone a number of surgeries.

Mason went undrafted out of college, and ended up playing in the CBA, before entering the NBA for brief stints with the New Jersey Nets and Denver Nuggets. He would later find a home in New York, as he became an important part of the famous Knicks teams of the early to mid 90's. Mason helped lead the Knicks to the 1994 NBA Finals and was known for his toughness and intense play on the court. Mason was the NBA Sixth Man of the Year in 1994-95 for the Knicks.
