The editors of Food & Wine Magazine have chosen the Hudson Valley's 10 best wine spots. Is your favorite on the list? The 10 "not-to-miss" wine destinations in our area were chosen because the magazine believes the Hudson Valley is finally stepping up its wine game. Although we've been producing wine in our region longer than any other area of the country, we haven't had the best reputation when it came to quality or selection.

But now that seems to have changed, with new wine destinations popping up all over the area. The article highlights some of the more popular local wine spots, as well as some hidden gems just waiting to be discovered.

The list includes Hudson Wine Merchants. The small shop in the town of Hudson was featured for its large selection of hard-to-find wines. Also making the list is Brunette Wine Bar in Kingston, which opened last summer. It's just one of three wine bars that are now located in the city. Kingston Wine Co. and Ester Wine & Spirits also made the list.

Gaskins, a small tavern and restaurant in Germantown, was described by the magazine as one of the area's hidden gems. Owners Nick and Sarah Suarez opened Gaskins in 2015 after moving up from the city and are so dedicated to the operation that they even live right above the building. Besides rare wines, they also serve beer made on the family's nearby farm.
