Following a near month long investigation a Newburgh teenager is behind bars for allegedly shooting a young man in Dutchess County.

Monday, City of Beacon Patrol Officers and City of Beacon Detectives executed an arrest warrant on Red Flynn Drive in the City of Beacon.

At that time, 18-year-old Jaylin K. Smith, of Newburgh was placed under arrest, without incident, for 1st-degree assault, a class B felony.

Police say the arrest of Smith was the result of a three week investigation after a young man was shot in the City of Beacon.

Due to the sensitivity of the case, no further information was disclosed.

Smith was arraigned in Beacon City Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail on $50,000 cash $50,000 bond.
