Well, here's something you don't hear everyday. Gainsville Police say 48 year old Joseph H. Carl was allegedly drving nearly three times the legal limit, when he crashed his truck into a vehicle that was stopped in front of him, at a traffic light. You'd think he'd at least see the error of his ways, or maybe go to help the other driver, but that was certinaly not the case this particular evening. Carl proceeded to jump out of his truck and began banging on the window of the car in front of him. Obviously afraid of the drunken lunatic that was hitting her window and screaming at the top of his lungs, the woman that was driving the other vehicle sped off, leaving Carl alone at the light.

Carl's bad luck didn't end there.

Seems that he had forgotten to put his truck in PARK when he jumped out to throw his tantrum, and the only thing holding it back from rolling was the other car it had just hit. Now that that car had sped off....yep, Carl's truck began rolling right towards him. He tried to hold the moving vehicle back by extending his arms out. That didn't work. The truck ran over him.

Paramedics arrivied to find the injured Carl who initially refused treatment. Gainsville Police showed up at the scene and couldn't help but notice the stumbling driver who had a strong odor of alcohol. Carl failed field sobriety tests and was arrested on supsion of DWI/DUI (the number of empty beer cans found in his truck might have also been a hint)

He complained of his foot hurting and was taken to UF Health Shands Hospital, where he was treated for fractures in his foot and hand. He also was found to have a blood-alcohol level of .22, nearly three times the legal threshold for drunken driving in Florida.

Carl was arrested on charges of DUI and DUI with property damage
