If you traveled on the New York State Thruway Saturday morning you likely dealt with a major traffic nightmare.

On Saturday at around 6:52 A.M., State Police investigated an overturned tractor-trailer Southbound on I-87. The tractor-trailer flipped over just prior to Exit 16, Harriman.

All lanes of travel in both directions were closed for a number of hours.

All southbound traffic was held from entering at Exit 17, Newburgh. In addition, all northbound traffic was being diverted at Exit 16, Harriman as the tractor-trailer was removed from the highway.

Police did not release details about the driver or announce any injuries. State Police are continuing their investigation into the cause of the accident. More information is expected to be released. No charges have been filed at this time.

You may recall another tractor-trailer roll-over a little south on the thruway. In early May, a tractor-trailer heading north on the Tappan Zee Bridge rolled over. The trailer was carrying scrap metal, and debris from the accident landed on both sides of the bridge.

Amazing and terrifying dash camera video shows the rollover accident as it happens. Luckily, somehow, no one  was inured.
