The Washington Redskins no longer have trademark protection.  The US Patent office has canceled 6 trademarks due to a complaints filed that "the term 'Redskins' was disparaging to 'a substantial composite' of American Indians when the marks were granted between 1967 and 1990."  The Washington Redskins can still appeal the ruling and have their trademark protected during the appeal process.  If they eventually lose they can also choose to keep the name, but anyone would be allowed to use their logo and name to market any product they wish, including t-shirts, hats and other souvenirs.

This ruling has come after the Oneida Indian Nation launched their much publicized "Change The Mascot" campaign.

So what do you think?
