If you live in the Hudson Valley you might want to stock up on sparklers now. They, along with other fireworks, may soon become illegal again.

According to The Daily Freeman, there is a proposal on Governor Cuomo's desk that would allow some towns to opt out allowing fireworks sales. Last year certain non-explosive fireworks were made legal throughout the state. Orange County was just one of the many Hudson Valley counties that decided to opt-in to the new law, allowing sales throughout the county.

Now some cities in Orange County are asking permission to pull the plug on fireworks. Among them is Middletown. After police reported a "firestorm" of complaints from residents, Mayor Joseph DeStefano enlisted the help of Orange County Legislator Jeffrey Berkman to help write a law that would allow towns in Orange County to be able to outlaw the sale of fireworks.

The legislation was approved by both the Senate and Assembly. It is just waiting for Cuomo's signature.

We want to know what you think about legal fireworks. Do you see them as a problem in your town or would you like to see them remain legal? Let us know your thoughts on our Facebook page or in the comments section below.
