This father has had it with Common Core.

A Painesville, Ohio man showed his distaste for Common Core by filling out a check to his fourth grader's elementary using the long form math strategy. The check is made out Melridge Elementary, and uses the cryptic X's and O's that accompany eight boxes with more O's indicating the amount of the check.

There is no bank that's going to be able to cash this.

Forty-two of the fifty U.S. states and the district of Columbia are members of the Common Core State Standards Initiative. According to Wikipedia the initiative's stated purpose is to "provide a consistent, clear understanding of what students are expected to learn, so teachers and parents know what they need to do to help them." Additionally, "The standards are designed to be robust and relevant to the real world, reflecting the knowledge and skills that our young people need for success in college and careers," which should place American students in a position in which they can compete in a global economy.
