There are 10 things that Hudson Valley homeowners need to do right now to prepare for Winter. While you're enjoying Fall, make sure that you get your house in order by doing these jobs done before it's too late.

 Clean out the gutters.

Rake leaves and either shred to use as mulch or put them to the curb for pickup.

Fertilize your lawn now so it comes back green and healthy in the spring.

 Close or install storm windows.

Turn off outdoor water spigots, empty hoses and store them for the winter.

Change the oil in your snow blower and do yearly maintenance.

Stock up on ice melt, make sure your shovels and roof rakes are ready for action.

Check windows and doors for weather-tightness and install weather stripping if needed.

Have the furnace inspected and cleaned.

Clean lint out of your dryer vent.
