Some 10 pounds of TNT and more were found in a trailer in the Hudson Valley.

Last Sunday, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a Philipstown man who owns a commercial lot on Route 9 in the Town of Philipstown.

The man told police that he found about 10 pounds of trinitrotoluene, TNT, and a quantity of blasting caps in an old trailer located on the property.

The unnamed man found the explosives while clearing the property and said he assumes the items belonged to the former owner of the parcel, now thought to be deceased, who owned a blasting company.

The Westchester County Police Bomb Squad responded to the location to safely remove and dispose of the item.
