It goes without staying, Americans love chicken wings. A number of you saw first hand January 22 at the Hudson Valley Wing Wars event!

Now you may not like either the Patriots or the Eagles, but the fact is...Americans will chow down Sunday evening when the Super Bowl airs. Chicken wings have a been a long time favorite for the Big Game. But just how much are we talking about here?

Try 1.35 billion wings. Yes, the National Chicken Council says that people in the United States will eat a staggering 1.35 billion chicken wings just this weekend alone. If you figure there are about 323 million people living in the U.S., according to 2016 figures, that's over four chicken wings per person in the country.

Why so much this year? the price may have something to do with it.

The Department of Agriculture says the national retail price for a fresh tray-pack of whole wings is now $2.30 per pound, down a whopping 23 cents per pound since last week.
