“WHEN I GROW UP” CAMP
“When I Grow Up” Camps have been carefully designed to allow children ages 4 and 5 the opportunity to explore, create and discover four areas of the world that surrounds them. Camps empower and inspire the children by providing unique hands-on experiences relating to the theme of the week within a museum setting.
Each camp session is packed with hands-on activities that offer age-appropriate introductions to nature, reading, health, art, and science, while also encouraging development across these five distinct but connected domains that are used as indicators to assess a child’s readiness for school:
Fine and gross motor development
Social and emotional development
Multi-disciplinary approaches to learning
Language and literacy development
Cognition and general knowledge
Each half-day session combines fun and games with interactive learning activities, music, crafts, visits from special presenters, and museum exploration.
Our camp takes place inside the museum and in our outdoor pavilion overlooking the beautiful Hudson River.
Led by MHCM educator and museum staff, our dedicated team brings many years of experience creating and delivering engaging camp activities for young children. Sessions are kept small (24 child max per session) to encourage the fostering of relationships between campers and counselors. All counselors are first-aid certified. Camper to counselor ratio is 8:1.

Three Sessions:
Chef Camp – offered August 7-11
Science Camp – offered July 17-21 or July 31-August 4
Artist Camp – offered July 10-14 or July 24-28
