Additional Information

Performing Arts of Woodstock opens its spring season with Chekhov’s masterpiece Uncle Vanya. In Uncle Vanya, Chekhov shows us a dispirited family, each of whose members is facing change but none is able to handle it. Chekhov scholar Paul Schmidt’s lively translation used in this production captures the humor Chekhov intended in dramatizing these situations. Yet for all its misplaced idealism and unrequited love, Uncle Vanya carries a message of courage and hope.

The production opens on Friday, May 11 and runs for three weekends through May 27. The performance schedule follows:

FRIDAY & SATURDAY MAY 11-12, 18-19, and 25-26 @8 PM

SUNDAY MAY 13, 20, and 27 @1:30 PM

All performances take place at Mescal Hornbeck Community Center, 56 Rock City Road, Woodstock. Tickets are $23 general admission, $20 for seniors and students. Group prices are available. For information and reservations, call (845) 679-7900.
