Additional Information

Adams Fairacre Farms, the Hudson Valley’s premier market, has teamed up with Solving Kids’ Cancer to present the First Hudson Valley Walk to Solve Kids’ Cancer on Saturday, September 6, 2014. The 2-mile walk will begin at Tony Williams Field in Highland, New York, and continue along the beautiful Hudson Valley Rail Trail.

Last September, two young mothers, Jennifer Noll and Alethea Ramirez, raised more than $20,000 in 30 days for childhood cancer research. During National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the Poughkeepsie natives launched their campaign with their employer Adams Fairacre Farms, collecting donations at checkout lanes at all four store locations in the Hudson Valley. The funds raised supported the launch of a new novel clinical trial for children battling neuroblastoma, one of the deadliest childhood cancers. This year, the two moms, hope to raise just as much money, if not more, to fund another clinical trial. “We will not stop raising money until we completely wipe out these cancers. Jen and I truly believe in the Solving Kids’ Cancer motto that Every Kid Deserves to Grow Up,” said Ramirez.

Registration for the walk will be $5 for individuals, $10 per family, and children under 4 are free. Participants may register for the walk and also fundraise for childhood cancer research by going to crowdrise.com/HudsonRiverValleyWalk2014. Onsite registration will be available the day of the event from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. The walk will begin at 10 a.m. and closing ceremonies will be held at 12 p.m.

The Hudson Valley Walk to Solve Kids’ Cancer will feature food from vendors in the area, refreshments, and children’s entertainment. There will also be free parking available at the park. Sponsorship opportunities are available for businesses and individual participants. Please contact Alethea Ramirez directly at 845-454-4330. 100% of all donations to Solving Kids’ Cancer go directly to fund novel treatments for children who are battling cancer today.

HUDSON VALLEY RAIL TRAIL
The Hudson Valley Rail Trail is on an abandoned part of the New York, New Haven & Hartford
Line that went to Ulster County for back taxes. The County sold off portions to recoup taxes and
ceded a 5-mile stretch to Highland in the 1990s. Today, The Hudson Valley Rail Trail is a very easy family friendly walk along a beautiful stretch of the Hudson River.
