Friends of PPLD bus trip to Hudson River school artists’ homes

The Friends of the Poughkeepsie Public Library District (PPLD) is sponsoring a bus trip to visit the homes of the famous Hudson River School painters Thomas Cole and Frederic Church, Wednesday May 18. The chartered bus leaves the Spratt Park ballfield parking lot on Wilbur Boulevard in Poughkeepsie at 8 am, and heads north to Catskill NY to "Cedar Grove", the home of Thomas Cole, for a docent lead tour. Next, a leisurely 2 hour stop in Hudson, NY for lunch on your own and a chance to visit art galleries and antique stores. The trip concludes with a docent lead tour of "Olana", the home of Fredric Church, and the stunning views of the Hudson River Valley. Return to Poughkeepsie, arriving 5 pm. Parts of this trip are not handicapped accessible. Cost: $42 per person, no refunds. Price includes admission to both homes and bus ride.
