Free tours of the formal gardens (weather permitting) at the Vanderbilt Mansion Historic Site by volunteers who maintain the gardens. Volunteers will discuss the history of the gardens and the mission of the Vanderbilt Garden Association to rehabilitate and maintain the plants, shrubs, trees, and statuary in the gardens as they were in the 1930’s just prior to Mr. Vanderbilt’s death. Visitors should park in the Visitor Center parking lot, and walk down the gravel path from the Mansion to the gardens. Come to the garden entrance, just south of the mansion, for the free tour any time between 1:00 and 4:00 PM.
