Dutchess County farmhand Jesse Strang abandoned his family to start life over in Albany, New York. There he had the misfortune of falling in love with the beautiful Elsie Whipple. Blinded by their passion, Strang was easily manipulated into murdering Elsie’s husband. The love triangle didn’t end well, however, as Jesse Strang would later hang for his crime. What became of Elsie Whipple and what are the intimate details of their salacious affair?

John Baldwin celebrated the new year of 1900 with his release from Sing Sing Prison. He had served twenty-two years in prison for a murder he likely didn’t commit? How did Baldwin, a Civil War Veteran, narrowly escape the noose, what crime sent him to prison, and did he finally find his freedom?
