The elderly man's wife was also burned trying to put the fire out.

At approximately 9:45 a.m. Saturday, Stony Point Police received a 911 call from a Charles Court resident reporting a male was on fire. Police responded to find an elderly couple had sustained burns.

The was working on machinery in his detached garage and his wife became aware, called 911 and was burned trying to put out the fire. The garage sustained minor damage.

The male was airlifted to Westchester Medical Center and the female was transported to the same hospital by Stony Point Ambulance. Detectives are investigating the cause which appears accidental.

The identification of the victims is being withheld until family can be notified.
