Rankings for county health have been released for 2016, and Dutchess County is among the healthiest statewide. On the flipside, another local county is among the state's worst.

Each year the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute compiles county information for each county, in each state, nationwide. This is the seventh release for the now yearly rankings. Numerous factors are taken into consideration, including crime rates, housing costs, education and employment. Counties with higher populations of smokers are negatively impacted as well. Higher graduation rates, better access to recreational facilities and health centers ranked better overall.

While Dutchess fared well, Sullivan county was second to last.
