Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro has issued an emergency order restricting travel in Dutchess County as of 5 pm today. The order means that travel is restricted to essential personnel on all roads within the county.

Snow is expected to fall at a rate of 1-3 inches per hour into the evening. Road conditions will continue to deteriorate as the day goes on.

The Dutchess County public transit system continues to run until further notice, you can check their website for updates and delays: www.dutchessny.gov/publictransit.

County Executive Molinaro had this to say, 'based on the weather reports out of Albany and the projected rates of snowfall, we have issued an emergency order restricting travel in Dutchess County effective at 5 pm today until 4 am tomorrow morning to ensure public safety and allow road crews to keep up with the storm.'

The emergency order restricts travel for all but the following:

  • medical and health facility personnel
  • law enforcement
  • first responders
  • utility, maintenance, and public works personnel
  • snow removal, salting, sanding, cleaning
  • government personnel involved in emergency operations

In other words, stay off the roads and ride this one out.
