Some may of you may have wondered what was going on near Route 52 in Newburgh Tuesday evening.

The Times Herald reports that a dump truck was driving westbound on Route 52 when its dump body suddenly began to go up. The body of the truck ripped down numerous power lines and four utility poles along Route 52, near Tarsio Lanes. Several buildings and parked cars were damaged by the accident. A number of power outages were reported in some nearby businesses and residential areas.

When the Town of Newburgh Police arrived on scene, the dump truck was reportedly caught in the wires. The driver told police he didn't know the truck bed was ever up. It is not known as of yet what caused the malfunction.
