It looks like the Hudson Valley is in store for some much needed relief from the drought.

The National Weather Service is predicting soaking rainfall for the Hudson Valley for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Forecasters say that we should see rain, with periods of heavy rain, starting Tuesday morning. Parts of the Hudson Valley may even hear rumbles of thunder Tuesday afternoon or into the early evening.

According to the National Weather Service, the local area has a 100% chance of precipitation Tuesday with one to two inches likely. Patchy fog is expected around 3 p.m.

There is a 50% chance or more rain this evening until 9 p.m. Tuesday night is supposed to be dry but rain is again expected for Wednesday and into Wednesday night.

Wednesday’s forecast also calls for rain. With thunderstorms again possible, after 3 p.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Again, there is a 100% chance of precipitation, with between a half and three quarters of an inch of new rainfall possible.
