The latest weather data now show that portions of the Hudson Valley are in a drought.

According to the United States Drought Monitor some areas of the Mid Hudson Valley are in a moderate drought while others are experiencing abnormally dry conditions.

Orange, Rockland and Putnam counties, along with areas south to New  York City are now in a moderate drought. Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan and other counties north through Albany are all experiencing abnormally dry conditions.

No water restrictions have been posted as of yet, but residents are being cautioned about the threat of brush fires. We saw another wildfire pop up over the weekend in Ulster County. The fire consumed around 20 acres, closing down Minnewaska and portions of Route 44/55 in Ulster.

There are scattered thunderstorms forecast for our area today, which most likely won't supply enough rain to help combat the drought conditions. The rest of the 10 day forecast shows temperatures in the upper 80s to lower 90s with no substantial precipitation expected for the Hudson Valley region.
