A car collided with a utility pole on Thursday morning, shutting down an entire road.

Hudson Valley traffic reporter, Nancy Reamy, is announcing that Benner Road in Red Hook is closed to traffic. The closure comes after a car allegedly crashed into a utility pole, bringing it down on the roadway on Thursday morning.  The road is just west of Route 9 off of Route 199.

It's unclear how long the road will remain closed, but commuters are being asked to avoid the area as crews work to reopen the roadway. There are considerable backups on the road as commuters are being rerouted out of the area.
