Santacon is scheduled to take place in Manhatten on Saturday. The notorious pub crawl encourages drunken adults to dress as santa and travel from bar to bar as a group. There has been much controversy surrounding the event, causing the alcohol ban.

The Journal News quotes a Metro North statement:

MTA Police Officers will be on duty at Grand Central Terminal and outlying stations as well as on trains to enforce this restriction... The police will confiscate alcohol and issue summonses carrying fines of up to $50, imprisonment of up to 30 days, or both. Violators may also be subject to removal from the train or station by police.

Alcohol has been banned from Metro North in the past during other rowdy events, such as the St. Patrick's Day parade.
