The Donald Trump rally at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center drew thousands of supporters--and a few hundred protestors--to the City of Poughkeepsie Sunday afternoon.

You have no idea what's going on with those delegates. It's a crooked process, folks.

Trump told the audience it was the largest event in the venue's history. An overflow area was created in the ice rank next to the main performance space to accommodate the crowd.

In his 40-minute speech, the Republican presidential hopeful railed against a "rigged" delegate appointment process, illegal immigration, Republican presidential primary opponent Sen. Ted Cruz and Democratic presidential primary frontrunner Hillary Clinton.

"You have no idea what's going on with those delegates. It's a crooked process, folks. It's a dishonest process. That has nothing to do with democracy," Trump said. "The fact that you're taking all these people out and wining them and dining them--nobody does that stuff better than me. I just don't want to do it."

Trump frequently referenced his business success throughout the rally and highlighted his connections to Dutchess County, including the Trump National Golf Course in Hopewell Junction and his brother's girlfriend's restaurant Monte's in Amenia.

We have to get smart. So, folks, we're going to win on trade. We're going to win on education.

While critiquing trade imbalances and reiterating his call to build a wall along the Mexican border drew vocal support, the biggest applause line of his speech came from a denunciation of Common Core.

"We have to get smart. So, folks, we're going to win on trade. We're going to win on education. We're going to win with the Second Amendment which has been absolutely brutalized. We're going to get rid of Common Core," he said.

Trump's visit marked the second appearance of a presidential candidate to visit the Hudson Valley in the lead up to Tuesday's New York primary. Democratic hopeful Bernie Sanders campaigned at Marist College on last Tuesday. And while Trump rallied in the City of Poughkeepsie, Chelsea Clinton campaigned on her mother's behalf in the Town of Poughkeepsie and Kingston Sunday.
