A Delaware County man is dead after the golf cart he was operating was struck by a train. NY State Police responded to a call Sunday of an accident in Otego. Upon arrival, troopers found the operator of the golf cart, 57 year-old Charles Turk of Bloomville, dead on the south side of the railroad tracks beneath his overturned golf cart. Turk's wife and only passenger, Cynthia Turk, 58, was found lying nearby with two broken legs, according to WBNG

An investigation revealed that Turk was driving his golf cart when he attempted to cross a private agricultural crossing of the Canadian Pacific railroad. The golf cart struck the train, which was traveling west, according to reports. According to State Police, the train was a two-engine train that was pulling 31 cars of mixed freight.

Cynthia Turk was transported to Albany Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.The investigation is ongoing.
