A dead full-term newborn boy who was found on a recycling center's conveyor belt may have come from the Hudson Valley, police say.

On October 16, a full-term newborn baby boy was discovered at a Stamford Connecticut recycling center, police say. A worker found the full-term newborn on a conveyor belt, NBC reports.

According to New York State Police, it's unclear if the child was stillborn or died after birth. The boy can only be described as being white or Hispanic.

The recycling center receives recyclables from New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts, according to NBC.

Following on an investigation, investigators ruled out the child came from trash from Long Island or Massachusetts.

On Thursday, investigators said they believe the boy came from Westchester County or Fairfield County in Connecticut. Investigators are looking into material that was delivered by a company that services Westchester County as well as Danbury and Ridgefield, Stamford, Westport and Norwalk Connecticut.

An autopsy with preliminary findings was completed and numerous forensic tests are still in progress, police say.

Anyone who may have information regarding this incident is asked to please contact the Stamford Police Department at 203-977-4420 or the New York State Police at (845) 677-7300. All calls can be kept confidential.
