Every year my husband and I have almost the exact same conversation about Daylight Savings Time. I am completely annoyed that I will be losing an hour of sleep, something I don't get enough of on a regular basis, and he's excited to have more daylight in the evening.

Eventually, I come around to his way of thinking, but it takes me almost two weeks to get back on track. Change and I have never been really good friends.

As it turns out, the idea of Daylight Savings Time has started quite a few arguments over the years and, to this day,  not everyone follows suit.

Whichever side of this argument you're on, you still have to set your clocks an hour ahead before going to bed on Saturday night. That is, if you have any clocks that you actually have to set, since most will be magically done for you ie smart phones, cable boxes, etc. Curse that microwave clock.

It's also actually a really good time to take care of something that you probably don't give a second thought to, and that's changing the batteries in any smoke detectors or carbon monoxide detectors you have around your home.

When something so small and simple could save your life, or the lives of your family, crawling on a step stool or climbing a ladder while trying to pry those things off the ceiling and installing a new battery, is a small price to pay.

Here's to more daylight hours and spring just around the corner. Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to take a nap.
