Darwin Awards: Man Loses Leg After Shooting at Lawn Mower Full of Explosives

This could be an early candidate for this year's Darwin Awards.

A man reportedly lost his leg as a result of explosion caused from shooting a semi-automatic rifle at a lawn mower stuffed with explosives.

According to the Walton County (GA) Sheriff’s Department, a 911 caller reported that 23-year-old David Pressley was shooting at a mixture of ammonium nitrate and aluminum powder in the woods and "had possibly blown his legs off from the explosion."

One of Pressley's friends told police they stuffed a combination of ammonium nitrate and aluminum powder into an old lawn mower so they could film it blowing up.

Pressley was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, and is now recovering from the incident.
