Darryl Strawberry has had a life of many ups and many downs, and he is ready to share his story with us.

Strawberry will be appearing live, in person on Friday, June h at Saugerties High School at 310 Washington Ave, in Saugerties. The event gets underway at 6:30 p.m. according to the school's website.

Strawberry will be sharing his amazing and inspiring story of how he overcame addiction and found his true purpose in life in helping others.

During his baseball career Strawberry played for both the New York Mets and the New York Yankees, plus a few other teams as well. He won four World Series titles with the Mets in 1986, and with the Yankees in 1996, 1998 and 1999. He also was an eight-time All-Star, the 1983 National League Rookie of the Year, all during his 17-year Major League Baseball career.

Strawberry also had a long battle with drug addiction and has struggled for a long time off the field which led him to write his book Don’t Give Up on Me: Shedding Light on Addiction with Darryl Strawberry.

Strawberry's visit is presented by R.Y.A.N. (Raising Your Awareness About Narcotics) and is free and open to the public. A limited number of tickets are available in advance for reserved seating. Those without tickets will be seated on a first come, first served basis.

Doors will open at 6 PM and those without tickets are encouraged to arrive early.
