A man and woman living at the same address were arresting following an investigation into cocaine and heroin sales in Ulster County.

Since earlier this year, Ulster Regional Gang Enforcement Narcotics Team (URGENT) has been investigating the sale of narcotics from 12 Tuthill Avenue in the Village of Ellenville.

Police say 35-year-old Mario J. Shelley sold undercover offices cocaine and heroin at the address.

Last week a search warrant was executed at the home by members of URGENT, Ellenville Police, and the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office. The search warrant allegedly yielded a small amount of cash from Shelley’s room and heroin and marijuana from a room maintained by 40-year-old Hilda E. Lasanta.

Shelley and Lasanta were not home at the time of the search warrant. Both were arrested soon after.

Shelley was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, criminal sale of a controlled substance, criminal nuisance, felonies, and criminally using drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor.

Shelley was arraigned in the Village of Ellenville Court and remanded to the Ulster County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 secured bond, to return at a later time.

Lasanta was charged with the misdemeanor of 7th-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and a violation for unlawful possession of marijuana. She was released on an appearance ticket returnable to Ellenville Village Court at a later time.

The investigation is continuing and additional charges may be filed.
