A huge geometric storm hitting the Earth could bring the Northern Lights as far south as the Hudson Valley. The storm began at about 10 am Tuesday morning and has been ranked as a G4 geomagnetic storm (our of 5) by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's Space Weather Prediction Center.

NBC News reports that the solar storm is the result of two large eruptions that erupted from the Sun on Sunday. NOAA officials expect that the solar storm should continue for at least the next several hours, though storms like this are difficult to predict. Officials say the storm is not a danger to satellites or astronauts in space, but your GPS and radio signals could be affected.
