Is the future happening now? Well, not quite. But the news is pretty exciting.

The NY Daily News is reporting that Boeing announced, at an industry conference, their plans to develop a hypersonic airliner that could travel at five times the speed of sound and climb to 95,000 feet.

That could mean traveling from New York across the Atlantic in just a couple of hours. That could mean reaching Japan in only about three to four hours.

Of course there's got to be a catch. Well, the catch is that probably won't be happening for another twenty to thirty years, so don't book your flights just yet. Also, much like the old Concorde (that could make it to London from NY in only about four hours), it's going to be expensive.

But of course, we can only wish.
