For the first time this year snow has appeared in our extended forecast, and it may come just in time for Christmas.

According to The Weather Channel's extended outlook there's an indication that we could possibly see some snow during the week of Christmas. Of course, forecasts this far in advance are never very accurate, but it's interesting to note that this is the first time we've seen the word "snow" in any forecast for the Poughkeepsie area so far this season.

The forecast for Monday, Dec. 21 shows a possibility of snow showers in the morning. As of now those showers are predicted to turn into rain by the afternoon, but with two weeks to go you never know. Interestingly, the 21st also happens to be the first official day of Winter. With Dec. 25 just a few days later it would be perfect timing for a nice little snowstorm to hit our area and supply all of us with a white Christmas.

We'll continue to monitor the situation and keep you posted on the snow forecast. Until then, we should probably just enjoy the clear roads and mild temperatures while we still can.
