The Confederate flag controversy is every where! And now it's hit the Ulster County Fair.

According to the Daily Freeman, vendors at the Ulster County fair have been allowed to sell merchandise that bears the "Stars and Bars" but the Fair board has encouraged vendors to discretely display those items.

A fair press release stated: “The Ulster County Agricultural Society, which runs the fair, represents inclusion and respect for all. The fair has requested that vendors discretely display any items that may offend fairgoers. We aim to provide a safe and educational environment for all who enter through our gates.”

Fair General Manager Gary Newkirk told the Freeman that vendors are asked to provide the fair with an advance list all merchandise they’ll be selling, but not with the kind of detail that might tip off organizers about a potential controversy.

The Ulster County fair opened Tuesday and runs thru Sunday at the Fairgrounds on Libertyville Road in New Paltz.
