During an an episode of "The Late Show" this week, Stephen Colbert discussed the Hudson Valley with one of his celebrity guests.

On a very special Leap Day broadcast, Colbert's guests were director Spike Jonez and actor Jeffery Dean Morgan. Morgan, who lives in Rhinebeck, is playing the role of Negan on the current season of "Walking Dead."

You may know Jeffery Dean Morgan from his characters on "The Good Wife" and "Grey's Anatomy" but many Hudson Valley Residents favor his role as candy store owner. We told you last year about how Morgan and actor Paul Rudd purchased Samuel's Sweet Shop in Rhinebeck. The story went national and Colbert couldn't resist asking the actor about his business venture.

Morgan explains how when he moved to the Hudson Valley one of the first people he met was Ira, the owner of Samuel's. After Ira passed away Morgan says that it only made sense for he and Rudd to purchase the business to make sure it didn't turn into a "smoothie stand." Morgan's six-year-old son may be even happier than his dad about owning the candy shop. The actor tells Colbert that his son sometimes feels like he owns the place. Which I guess he technically does.

Kudos to Morgan for saying such great things about our area. Now if we can only teach him that the Hudson Valley isn't actually anywhere near "Upstate New York."
